King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema visited Bhutan's Bumthang district — the Queen's ancestral home. The Royals brought their six-month-old Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, for his first trip to the area on August 11, 2016

In April 2016, King Jigme and Queen Jetsun, revealed their son name Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck  in a public ceremony.

Ahead of the ceremony in April 2016, the proud grandfather, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, was seen lovingly tidying his grandson Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck’s mop of dark hair with a soft white brush.

The six-month-old Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was introduced to his mom's ancestral home. The tiny Prince wore an adorable yellow robe, white socks, and formal little white shoes — which at some point he kicked off to go barefoot. He also has a full head of hair, and has had one since he was born. A few months after his birth, official images showed the baby with long, combed-over locks.

The King Jigme Wangchuck of Bhutan was quite affectionate with his son Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan as thousands of people turned up to greet them.

(L) King Jigme Wangchuck, Queen Jetsun Pema and Prince Jigme Namgyel of Bhutan arrived in Bumthang — the Queen's ancestral home — where a crowd welcomed them.  During the official presentation, the King gave a food offering to the people.

On the second day of their visit the little Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was presented to the people of Chumey with his Father King Jigme Wangchuck. Thousands showed up again, and the King offered tokha, a food offering, to the people.

After the wedding in 2011, the King Jigme praised his wife Queen Jetsun for carrying her responsibilities 'superbly well' and said he was very proud of her.

The couple married in a five-hour Buddhist ceremony in a 17th century fortress in 2011. The King presented his new bride with a silk, brocade crown making her the official Queen of Bhutan

As he presented his new bride to 30,000 spectators at Changlimithang Stadium the King of Bhutan asked the crowds if they would like to see them kiss. He delighted them with this peck on the cheek

The couple spend most of their time living in a modest cottage where they often receive members of the public

The queen's son will be named at the end of this week when he is two months old, according to tradition

The King then broke with tradition by giving his new wife a kiss on the lips. Couples don't normally show affection in public in Bhutan, but the King has always been open about his love for his wife.

Queen Jetsun Pema's royal duties include accompanying her husband on overseas trips. She is pictured on an official visit to Tokyo following her wedding in 2011

Queen Jetsun Pema and her husband take a ride on a tandem bike. They are known for their down-to-earth manner and began their married life by taking a walking tour through the kingdom to meet their subjects.

The King has described his wife as a 'kind-hearted' woman who has all the qualities he could possibly want in a wife, even though such public statements of affection are rare in Bhutan

The Bhutanese royals recently welcomed their first child,  a baby boy

Queen Jetsun of Bhutan is a keen basketball player, and also enjoys fine art and painting. She studied art history as part of her degree.

People are required to wear traditional dress in public in Bhutan, but Queen Jetsun has shown off a more polished style on overseas trips wit her husband King Jigme of Bhutan. On a working honeymoon, which included a trip to the UK, she wore a chic monochrome skirt with a lace top and grey tweed jacket, which she accessorized with a Chanel handbag

King Jigme of Bhutan and Queen Jetsun of Bhutan, who recently gave birth to her first child - a baby boy - is the second of five children, and although she is officially a commoner her family is not without royal connections.
