Decades of royal fashion on tour in Australia - From Diana's cheeky Crown jewel headband to Kate's Baywatch moment, November 10, 2015

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and The queen in 1954 in a lemon yellow cape-sleeved dress with a traditional three row pearl necklace and the wattle inspired hat designed to warm the hearts of Australians for their new monarch.

Queen Elizabeth II, in Australia in 1954 in a bottle green chiffon dress with floaty cap sleeves and elbow-length white gloves, has rules of fashion which include five pairs of gloves each day, dresses that are easy to both sit and stand, and handbags with straps which allow for easy handshaking with the public.

As a glamorous 27-year-old monarch, Queen Elizabeth wowed the Australian crowds in this lace one-shouldered dress with dazzling royal jewellery, as she is pictured leaving a banquet with Prince Philip during their inaugural 1954 Australian tour.

Crown jewels: Young and very much in love with her prince, Princess Diana topped off a one-shouldered blue gown with an art deco diamond and emerald choker - originally worn by Queen Mary - and controversially wore it as a headband to burn up the dance floor in Melbourne with Prince Charles in 1985

The other winning accessory: Princess Diana changed the game by taking Prince William to Australia in 1983 and Kate could not leave her lovely little Prince George, pictured in Canberra with the Duchess wearing a navy tweed Michael Kors dress coat and the little prince in red.

Absolute glamour: Stunning in another one-shouldered blue dress, Princess Diana is pictured on her way in to the Victor Change Research Institute Dinner Dance in 1996, her solo last visit to Australia in the year before the much-loved Princess died in a car crash

For her visit to the Royal Australian Air Force Base in Amberley, Queensland, the Duchess chose to go back to the British high street by wearing a blue poppy-dappled dress by L.K. Bennett. The 'Lasa' dress swiftly sold out online

Dressed elegantly in dove grey for the Easter Sunday church service at St Andrews Cathedral in Sydney on her 2014 Australian tour, the Duchess of Cambridge still managed to look effortlessly stylish in this Alexander McQueen suit and Jane Taylor statement hat.

That Baywatch moment: After meeting local lifesavers Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, sprints up Manly beach in Sydney last year 2014 in her high-heeled wedge sandals and eyelet dress by Australian designer, Zimmermann, perhaps breaking the rules for royal reserve but winning the hearts of the Australian public

Australia's love affair with Princess Diana, pictured wearing Belville Sassoon in Hobart in 1983, was partly for her glamour, 'that X factor' says royal book author Juliet Rieden, but also because 'she cared about children and would make a point of going to talk with a child'.
