Every year King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden (pictured) take part in a ceremony at Skansen, Stockholm’s open-air museum, where the yellow and blue Swedish flag is run up the mast, and children in traditional peasant costume present the royal couple with bouquets of summer flowers.

Swedes celebrate their National Day on 6 June in honor of two historical events: on 6 June 1523, Gustav Vasa was elected King and, on the same date in 1809, the country adopted a new constitution. Pictured: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden on her way to Skansen

The Swedish royals put on a festive display on Tuesday June 6 as they celebrated National Day. Pictured, left to right: Prince Daniel, Crown Princess Victoria, King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia of Sweden, Chris O'Neill, and Princess Madeleine

Dressed in traditional folk costume an adorable Princess Estelle, was met by the applause of well-wishers as she paraded the streets in a traditional horse and cart on their way to Skansen. She was accompanied by her mother Crown Princess Victoria who looked equally festive in the traditional blue and yellow ensemble, and her father Prince Daniel in a suave blue suit.

Swedish Crown Princess Victoria stepped out in traditional dress to celebrate National Day, and was presented with bouquets of summer flowers, that the Crown Princess seemed overjoyed to receive.
