Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma has died aged 93 on June 13, 2017 - She is Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh's first cousin and god mother to Prince Charles

Patricia Knatchbull, 2nd Countess Mountbatten of Burma and her dogs Sandy and Skye at the family home in Mersham, Kent in 2004.

Irish police officer looking through rubble remains of the Shadow V boat which Earl Mountbatten was on when it was blown up by IRA in 1979.  Patricia, 2nd Countess of Mountbatten survived an IRA bomb that was placed on the family boat as they holidayed. Her father Earl Mountbatten and teen son Nicholas Knatchbull died in the blast.

The Countess's father Earl Mountbatten, who was a beloved uncle of Prince Charles, died in the attack inn 1979, Mountbatten, his grandson Nicholas, and two others were killed by the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA), which had placed a bomb in his fishing boat, Shadow V, in Mullaghmore, County Sligo, Ireland.

Her husband, the celebrated film producer Lord Brabourne, died in 2005.'
